Thanks

I'm feeling kind of... grateful (?) right now. I was just thinking of all the people who have helped me since I've become a mom. Grandma and grandpa have, of course, done a lot. :) But right now I'm thinking of the strangers who have helped me.

There was an older woman in Whole Foods who practically forced me to let her push my cart to my car, waited patiently for me to settle Lily, then unload the cart, then took the cart back to the store with her. There have been a number of people who have taken my grocery cart for me so I don't have to leave Lily in a hot car for a minute while I run the cart back. And then there are the people who see me getting Lily out and bring me a cart. Maybe I reap the rewards for living in the south in a rural community. Anyway, thank you everyone who's helped me and Lily. :)

I like to be a helpful person too. Although, when I hold a door open for someone and they don't say thank you, I tend to say "You're welcome!" in a large, sarcastic voice. But that's just me.

And do I need to remind Lily that she has an Elmo chair??? She almost fell asleep in her toy box today. Oh and we skipped the morning nap too. :)

Better

I didn't destroy my teeth last night, although my tongue had to deal with being a chew toy. The pictures this morning are from Lily's bath last night. Bath pictures always seem to be popular. :)

This is almost a "no" face. I sometimes wonder if she even likes baths anymore. She's always getting up and out of the water. Pedro says she's leveling up. Getting ready for a new skill. Oh and Lily used to be so good at falling asleep. Now we have to spend 10 minutes or more with her in bed as she flails around and kicks her legs. Then once she's good and asleep I move her to her crib. It's not the worst thing in the world but I worry about her being able to fall asleep on her own. She does for her naps of course. Maybe it's cuz daddy's home at night and she doesn't want to miss out on spending time with him???

Awful

Since the princess is snoozing I thought I'd complain about my day. I woke up at 2:30am with a toothache - the bottom right side of my mouth was throbbing (no dirty comments M'lou). By the time I fell asleep again the fire alarm went off at 5:30. Thankfully, there was no fire. Pedro and I both checked. Back to bed. Then it went off again at 5:45. I didn't even bother to get up. hmpf

I had to go to the dentist again to get another impression for my biteguard which is loose. I have to live a week without my biteguard! I may not have any teeth left! I am a grinder, what can I say (no comments, M'lou). Boy oh boy my eyelids feel heavy. I'd better go and wake up Miss Lily from her afternoon nap so she isn't awake all night. Yes, we went back to the old routine today. YAWN!

Changes

Lily didn't have a morning nap today. I'm trying to let her have one big nap in the middle of the day. I don't want to be rigid in her schedule so I'm trying to accommodate her needs and our needs. Our needs specify that she get no naps after 4:30 so that's why I'm letting her have a good nap now. This is it until bedtime at 8 tonight! We have found a routine. She has dinner around 6, then plays a little, then a bath at 7:30 and a bottle at 8! She used to like being in the bath a long time but now she crawls out of it after 3o minutes or so. Oh well. And by crawling out of it, I mean she grabs on to me and makes me pick her up. :O

And isn't the Elmo chair awesome? It also laughs and shakes but that kind of disturbs Miss Lily so that's turned off for now. And no, she doesn't laze around in her Elmo chair all day. She only reclines on it when she starts to get tired.

Here is the blue ball that terrified her for a month. I feel like this has been a very blah posting today. All about schedules and boring things. Let's see.... I did order new tires for my car. No, not exciting enough. I got a clean bill of health from the dentist. *yawn* I guess there's just really nothing thrilling going on. Oh, for Pedro, I did move the movie 300 up our Netflix queue. I saw it was available. Don't say I never do anything for you! That was 3 seconds of my life, at least. Hark, I hear a baby stirring.

Sorry

I keep on forgetting to put batteries in my camera so no new pictures. So here's another beach picture that I missed the first time around. We bought Lily an Elmo chair, which she loves. She's also started to play with the blue ball which used to terrify her so she's growing and changing. She has also said "Hi Daddy" a few times today and in the correct context, as well as, Ri-leh. Nope, no mummy yet. HMPF!

I'm going to go and cry in a corner. I guess I should be happy that she's picking up words. Just not the RIGHT words. *grumble*

Schnell!

Just a quick update (before I go out AGAIN!). Lily and I had a blast at grandma's house. Those two are becoming good buddies. :) And Lily slept through the night!

Lily had a slightly different reaction for the beach. I don't think she hated the whole thing. She screamed when the waves came in. Bear in mind she was high up in my arms. She would look down and shriek at the water around my legs. :)

I think it was a good first try. I have never been to the beach as a mother before and although I was packing sunscreen, I was woefully short on the other required items. So it was a learning experience for Lily and I. :)

Oh, and sorry about the quality of the pictures. My camera batteries died so it was up to my camera phone. Which I think did quite well. :) Thank you technology!

Outties

Lily and I are going to be out of town for a couple of days, chilling at g-ma's house. Well, chilling might be stretching it as it's going to be super hot and humid. But I'm hoping to get to the beach, if it's cool enough. So no mean comments about no postings for a couple of days!

And Auntie Nicole, we'll give you a shout while we're there!

Waiting

No shoes yet. But I checked the tracking number and they're out for delivery! Lily almost managed to get up on her car by herself today. I had to take my car in for a state inspection today. Then I drove over to Pedro's work, switched the baby seat out and took his car in for an inspection! Lily and I had our work cut out for us. :) People were saying what a good baby she is as she wasn't crying or fussing. :) She saved that for when she got home.

Just kidding. She was a little tired but not too put out by our little adventure. We're hopefully going to go and visit grandma all by ourselves this Thursday and Friday. Daddy deserves some time to himself. I'm sure to come home to 6 pizza boxes.

Jump

We all had a good visit with grandma and grandpa today. Lily got over her grandpa issues. :) Yay! It took some cookies. The way to a baby's heart is through her cookie jar. Wait. That doesn't sound right.

The pictures tonight are from some baby/daddy playtime. We watched Nacho Libre again. I know it's a cheesy movie but it cracks me up. "I smell cookies". That scene kills me. :) Anyway, as you can probably tell, I don't have a lot to write about. This is basically just filler for the pictures. :)

I know that one of the pictures cuts off Lily's head (hopefully M'Lou will forgive me) but it does show how far daddy throws Lily into the air! Yes, I think Lily's going to be a very quiet, serene child. She obviously hates being thrown in the air. :)

PS (I should get my shoes on Tuesday!)

Happy

Miss Lily is 10 months old today! We went to Whole Foods to get some groceries. We found some great teething cookies. They're the consistency of dog biscuits but they're made out of graham crackers. :) It took Lily the whole drive home to eat half a cookie. Let's see, I also received my crock pot cookbook in the mail today. woot! It's by the same company that made my crockpot so I won't have to second guess portions, etc. Some of the recipes look scrumptious. And there's even a section on desserts!!!

Yes, I included an artsy shot of my living room. Artsy in that I avoided all the messy parts for once. Oh and the good news - my sandals will be here by Tuesday. I'll be blogging in them!!! We're also looking forward to a visit tomorrow by grandpa and grandma. Shout out to Nicole if she wants to come up too!!

hmpf

Well, clearly no one was moved by my Biscuits and Applebutter post. Sour grapes, huh?? Actually, I'd forgotten I had that for breakfast. Anyhoo, here are some pictures of Lily playing in her toy box (again). She discovered she can get in, but she can't get out!!! Cue scary music.

Let's see. I think I've neglected to mention that Miss Lily has a no face. She puckers up and makes a fishy face when she doesn't want anymore of a particular food. Fortunately, I can trick her with a food she likes. Actually, today she learned to grab food she didn't know about first and touch it to her tongue. Then if she didn't like it, I got the "no" face. Smartypants.

Let's see, what else. Oh tonight in her bath, Miss Lily fell over into the water. Mommy, is always right beside the tub so I got her upright quickly although it took a snuggle from daddy before she'd go back in the water. :)

And then Daddy had the nerve to tickle mommy while Lily was in the tub and I guess I made an annoyed noise which upset Lily. Who then pulled herself up on me and turned to fuss at her daddy!!!! I've got an almost 10 month old bodyguard! :) This is not a "no" face.

This is not a "no" face.

This is not a "no" face.

This is also not "no" face.

So no one can complain about not getting enough Lily pictures for today. (M'Lou will manage, I'm sure). And those sandals rawk!

Biscuits and Apple Butter

Guess what I had for breakfast???? These pictures are from this morning. Daddy was bouncing Lily on his knee. Oh and because I'm too lazy to email - I hope grandpa got in touch with his relatives in Peru and that everyone's okay. I wonder how the Incan foundations have held up? I remember seeing the old foundations under new buildings. The Incans had kind of a jigsaw puzzle approach to putting down the stones but what wasn't torn down by the Spanish, still stands. Their building style could handle the frequent earthquakes of the area. I know, hundreds of people are dead and I'm wondering about foundations. Priorities, right?

I'm hoping that daddy will take a picture of Lily and I walking around the living room. She's getting pretty fast but she still needs to hang on with both hands. She's so cute, when she's had enough, she bends her legs to plop down on her butt. :)

And lastly, I know this is really pathetic, but aren't these shoes awesome? I ordered some cheap shoes online and unfortunately (or not) they sold out so I had to order some new (more expensive) sandals. I LOVE them. Unfortunately, they won't get here until next week. SIGH.

Everest?

What was the name of the dude who climbed Mt. Everest? Sir Something-something? The pictures are from Lily climbing over her toy box. She flipped it all by herself too. She's quite a clamberer. Okay, I'm not sure that's a word but I'm not getting that offensive red underlining thing.

I have been taking the time to walk Lily around the living room. She's very good at it, if she has hands to hold onto. Sir Edmund Hilary??? Ha!

Of course, once you've finished climbing on your toybox, you have to flip it over and squeeze yourself inside. Doesn't that hurt your knees just to look at it????

Walkabout

We went for a family walk last night. We were gone for almost an hour - but we weren't walking very fast. Especially with daddy carrying Lily for the last half of the walk. We saw some deer cavorting and little fish in a sort of creek (run off from the lake). It was a beautiful evening and a good ending to a day that included fettuccine Alfredo for dinner. :)

The pictures are from dinner last night. Lily got noodles (sans sauce) and some chicken. Man that child is a slow eater. I guess most kids prefer to experiment, right? I had to rush her a little as we wanted to walk during daylight hours. I've been having trouble sleeping at night so I'm going to try and skip today's nap. So, unless you want a heap of abuse this afternoon, no one call or email. :)

Goi-gle

That's Miss Lily's language. "Goi-gle, goi-gle, GOI-GLE!" I'm sorry I haven't been posting as much. I think I have some kind of bug. I'm walking around with a headache and I feel lethargic. I think it's a sinus infection. blah Anyway, Lily hasn't been affected. Although, she did wake up that one night with a plugged nose.

Anyhoo, these are some pictures from yesterday. I didn't find the time to get online and write about them. :) You can see Lily's obsession with the remote control. I'm not sure how the little scamp manages to change the channels. There are a lot of buttons to push. :)

I don't really have much else to report. It's hot and I'm still trying to get stuff out of the house. Oh, Lily does watch more tv now. Or she's more aware of it. She likes Clifford the Big Red Dog. Probably because he's red! Here's a picture of her snuggling her ducky and watching tv. Too cute, right???

Bath Time!

The last couple of times I've given Lily a bath, she's fairly jumped all by herself into the water. This is in sharp contrast to the first 2 baths I gave her, when she screamed the whole time she was in the water. Tonight she heard Pedro start the water running and she got so excited she started crawling to the end of the bed, intent on getting to her bath! She loves it so much. :) Obviously, tonight's pictures are from the bath. And G-rated!

I don't think there's too much to report. No official walking yet. She still loves Riley. She's been falling asleep earlier at night and sleeping through the night more often. Although, last night she woke up with a plugged nose and had a fit after I put saline drops down her nose and then suctioned the snot out. So we didn't get to bed until late last night. :)

Ummmmm. I guess I could say that Pedro's enjoying his new job and we're enjoying seeing him more often. :) If he still had his old job he wouldn't be seeing much of Lily as she'd probably be in bed by the time he got home. So it's all worked out well. Pedro and I do have bets on as to if Great Auntie M'Lou will pee herself laughing at the first picture or not. :) Anyhoo, Miss Lily's personality is coming out more now and she is so much fun to be with. :) I'm a lucky mommy. :)

Smarter

Last night I gave Pedro a bottle of water for Lily. He said she woke up at 2, sort of, but slammed the bottle of water and fell right back asleep. I guess we still have a lot to learn about Lily. :) I know it's hot and I've been making sure she always has a drink available all day. It's all night I didn't think about. But now we're on the right track. :)

I have gutters! I'm glad I chose the color that I did. They almost match the house. I'll have to take a picture. :) And we chose gutters that don't allow debris in so we won't have to clean them. ha! I tried to capture what Lily looks like when she pushes her face against the baby gate. She looks like a baby bank robber to me. :) I'm glad the gutters are done. The guys were really nice - if you're in Virginia, call Leafguard! I was a little anxious about it but it's all done and from what I see, it looks really good. :)

Let's see, in Lily news.... She likes to pull on the tags to her diaper when I'm changing them. This morning there was quite a poop and she was pulling the diaper so I said "Stop it". I got a "dot it" in response. She's going to be quite a whippersnapper isn't she? I knew I would have to watch my words so I treat Lily in the way I want her to be when she grows up. Does that make sense? I know she's going to absorb my words and my actions and so I'm trying to treat her in the manner I would like to be treated, because she's learning from me now. That's why I get a little frustrated with daddy because he mocks her sometimes when she cries. I don't want her to think it's not okay to cry, or that she'll be mouthy. Sigh. We'll see.

Yesterday she got in a little bit of trouble. She loves to go to the cat tower and grab handfuls of cat hair and shove them in her mouth. We always stop her but yesterday I kept moving her away and she'd go right back. So I got something to block the access and when I got back there she was again at the cat tower. So I yelled at her to stop and she turned and waved hi to me. Now the little bugger hasn't done that up til now. I'm sure she was saving it for just such an occasion. Who can get upset at their little one when they wave hi for the first time??? I've got her number. It was still pretty cute. I'm not sure why she decided to crawl into her toy box to play this morning. Easier access??

Cutest Ever

Who is the cutest dog ever? (sorry Roxi)
