Flu Shot + Ice Cream = Better

It was Miss Lily's two year check up today. She was up to date on all her shots. Go us. Just so I wouldn't feel like we wasted a trip, I let them give her a flu shot. :) She's almost 32 pounds and is 3 feet .5 inches. Or 3'1/2". I like to be technical. :) ummmm We talked about a lot of stuff and Lily seems on track for her age. Just her head keeps staying above the curve! I mean, her head circumference. I hope she grows into that big old melon. :)

Anyway, we went to the "new" store across from the doctor's office. I think it's been open a couple of months. I heard they had good ice cream and 99 cent children's cones. So you know I was all over that. She loved it. Although, I know she's wandering the house with the last bit of ice cream and I'm not sure what she's doing with it. "Oh nooooo" is not a good sign.

Soup

Sweet honeysuckle rose I am full! I'm not sure what flowers have to do with it but whatever. I finally found some baked potato soup with bacon and cheese. I also had a wickedly good spicy chicken sandwich. Lily killed my fries with 6 packets of ketchup. Hey, that's at least a day's supply of lycopene. I could only eat half my soup - don't get excited Pedro, I'm eating the rest for dinner. :P I had to call 5 places to find my soup. The other 4 had chili and french onion. AS IF!

I think I mentioned before how I feel like a fake until I see some real evidence of a bun in my oven. Any old whosie watsit could say she's pregnant. You know? I obviously have some issues. Anyway, I had a dose of for reals today. (why do I sound like a 12 year old). I almost barfed up my tea and toast. I mean really. I happily inhaled my breakfast and then whammo. I couldn't move for fear of setting off the nitro barf in my belly. Poor Lily wanted to watch a movie and had to pretend the "load disk" sign was entertaining until I could gingerly make my way to the bookshelf to get her a dvd. Jeez Louise. I HATE barfing. My cats do it all the time so clearly it's not as big of a deal as I make it out to be, but I still hate it. I feel like I'm going to lose the battle of the esophagus someday soon....

Doctor's visit

I went for a prenatal exam today. Everything looks fine (from the outside) and I'll get an ultrasound in December. I kind of feel like a fake until I see the little pre-rug rat in there with a heart beat. You know? Also, today is soup day. I didn't have any soup at home so I'm trying to deal with it. I want broccoli and cheese soup, or cream of asparagus soup, or in a pinch some potato soup. NOT the fiber one bar and yogurt I was forced to subsist on. I am having some major cravings this time around. And whatever the opposite of cravings are. Go aways?

Daphne is pacing in the study trying to tell me turn up the heat. I swear, when Lily and I left the house it was in the 50s outside. It's now 39. ACK! See, and warm soup would have been just the answer.....

Oh yeah and Lily kept on pointing to my arm and saying "ow" after they took my blood pressure. She was a good girl today. :)

The Uninvited Guest

This is what I saw when I went to bed last night. BG the opportunist had made his move. Thankfully, he didn't wake her up. I had caffeine induced insomnia the night before (hey I really wanted some diet Coke) and I was not into trying to get Lily back to sleep late at night. Fortunately, I scraped his ornery butt off of her without any incidents. whew

I had a good day today. Went to the Boar's Head Inn for brunch. Pigged out. Crashed when I got home and enjoyed a lovely food coma. :) I will definitely go back (when I have some money). Also, the menu doesn't mention the waffle boats they will make for you. I didn't have one - I was all over the eggs benedict. :)

Tofu you

Well, batten down the hatches. Pedro ate tofu of his own free will. We had a really hellish day today. I won't go into the details but it sucked. We do have a new shiny dresser, full of clothes and ready to go. After hanging out in the 9th circle of hell most of the day, we ended up at Whole Foods around 8 and decided to get some dinner. Oh and it was weird, everywhere we went in about a 10 minute time span, we saw emergency vehicles. Even at Whole Foods....

Anyway, we bellied up to the hot bar and salad bar. Pedro asked me which salad was which (cuz the signs were confusing...). He actually got some of the tofu salad and ate it all! AKKKKK Who is this man??? I do enjoy tofu. I love a tofu pad thai. But Pedro??? I tricked him into eating some when he had miso soup. He yummed that soup up and as he got closer to the bottom little pieces of tofu started floating by. hehehehehe Man, he was mad at me but he got over his tofu phobia. I wonder if that would be a good way to get people over snake or spider phobias??? Sit them down to a nice bowl of miso soup and then when they get to the bottom.....

ummm, what did I eat? Well, chocolate parfait counts as a veggie course, right? Look, I only got the parfait because they didn't have chocolate mousse pie. And there were strawberries in it. hmpf And, I had skim milk with it so that totally makes it okay. When I got home I had ripe camembert (all gooey) on a baguette with strawberries. mmmm I keep on telling myself it's cravings but I'm suspicious that it's just me being a pig and labelling the pig out "cravings".

Nah.

Update:

I had to eat some more Camembert. I'm trying to restrain myself because I know how full of fat it is. Anyway, I checked online and it's full of a lot of vitamins and minerals important to a pregnant chick. Crazy, no? So it's not just me being a pig. ha! Gosh and it tastes so good.....

Breakfast of Champions

Well, we need to get out the door to get dresser shopping. But of course, you need to have the right kind of fuel in you.

And you have to look good.

Sort of.

Dresser

I've been pricing new dressers. Someone (not Lily or I) had a temper tantrum and slammed a drawer. Then the bottom and the back fell out. Yes, it's a testament to this person's strength and the cheapness of the dresser. I don't want anything fancy but the drawers have to shut. I'm fussy like that. Anyway, I finally got some batteries charged up and got out there taking pictures. Yes, we're very pampered on our potty.

We were feeling a little cold and run down today. Lily kept on climbing in bed and she found some old baby items of hers that she was playing with. Is it weird that a 2 year old is nostalgic? Alright, I have a mechanical ducky that I've had since I was a baby sitting on my desk RIGHT NOW. But I'm like, old and stuff. In other news, I got Lily to eat a mushroom! ha! And screw you Papa Johns. When I ask for a plain spinach alfredo pizza, that does not mean you should feel free to add half a ton of mushrooms and onions. Okay?

I guess other than the mushrooms we had an okay day. I'm still pretty tired. I know that will last for a while. I think the highlight of today was snuggling with Miss Lily on the sofa while watching Flushed Away. Good times. :)

Oh, and I know this picture is fuzzy but it cracks me up. Lily can be SUCH a ham.

What?

There exists a kraut and beer fudge cake. Really. I couldn't look too closely at the sauerbraten and squash wontons. I felt a puke coming on.

Tired

The sun feels so weak today. I think it was 87F last Wednesday. The temp today is COLD. Sorry, no new pics of Lily. I need to charge up some batteries. For the camera. Not for anything else.

I went to my first OB appointment today. I got the spiel on on some things and then they took a lot of blood. Lily was pretty good, considering. The nurse said that they only do two ultrasounds. I got five with Lily. One at 8 weeks, even. hmpf! So we'll see. That seems like a long time to wait to "see" the baby. I mean, at this office, they don't do one until 11 or so weeks. I have a cute pic of Lily with a tail, at 8 weeks. I guess it's what I want to pay for, huh?

Let's see... Lily is over her diet. She's been eating pretty well. I wish I could say the same. Lily had a half a banana and two strawberries for breakfast. :) Sometimes, I'm so proud of her.

Anyway, this was supposed to be an interesting, schnazzy post but I'm suffering from severe pregnancy brain today. (because my lack of interesting posts has nothing to do with my personality flaws)

Spinach

Oh my gosh. I think I'm incubating Popeye. Yesterday I was craving creamed spinach but I goofed around all day and never got around to making it. Luckily I went to Whole Foods before class and they had curried spinach (palak paneer). SCORE! But I was craving it again today so I made my own creamed spinach. Who knew it was so easy??? Okay, I cut a lot of corners and made it my own dern way with lots of garlic and full fat milk. Then I had it on top of spinach fettucine. You know what I'm saying? I wonder if I'll have to ask Pedro to bring home more spinach for dinner....

This has been a much different pregnancy so far. I know, I'm in my 6th week, what do I know? With Lily, I couldn't stand to look at meat, now you can't keep me away from it. I know, every pregnancy is different. I still swear it's going to be Popeye. :P

Okay, my body just said no more spinach.......

UPDATE

Spinach is rich in a number of essential nutrients, including calcium, folate, iron, magnesium, vitamin C and vitamin A. Each of these nutrients plays a crucial role in our bodies health, from maintaining bone structure, preventing neural tube defects, assisting in red blood cell production, regulating our heartbeat, fighting free radicals and nourishing good eyesight.

Go me! (and baby Popeye)

*yawn*

I am one tired cookie today. I even went to bed before 11pm last night so I'm not sure what's up. Anyway, I captured this captivating video of a local artist today at the Toys R Us. Prepare to be amazed.....

Now I hear the local artist moving a chair across the diningroom to bust into the chocolates.

Hunger Strike - Party of One

Lily hasn't been eating much lately. I still cling (weakly) to the belief that she'll eat when she's hungry but I'm still waiting. What happens is that I get so concerned she hasn't eaten that I give her almost anything just so she'll eat something. You know? I got her chewy Flintstone's vitamins to make sure she gets some nutrients and she spits them out. I wonder if they have liquid vitamins that I could sneak in her juice?

I try to give her lots of different (and healthy) food choices. Sigh. It is tough being a good parent. It wouldn't be so hard if I didn't care! :P It's too bad that when I go to the gym, I can't put Lily on the treadmill with me. Maybe that would work up an appetite.... (and possibly a lawsuit)

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving *Hugs*

First off let me say that I made it to the gym this morning. I tried to go yesterday but no one showed up to open the place. I waited 20 minutes people! So then I was cranky cuz I wanted to burn off some of the fattening food I had over the weekend. boo Anyway, I had a good workout this morning. Lily is very happy to go to the gym and play with the kids. Today when she and I were getting ready to go, she walked up to one little girl and put her arms around her and gave her a big old hug. Thankfully, the other girl hugged her back. I was like, whose baby girl is the sweetest????

Not mine. You should have seen the tantrums she was throwing down this weekend. But I think Lily's pretty close. She did stab me in the leg with a fork, which makes me suspicious from whom she may be reincarnated. (M'lou should know) ummm Anyway, we did some shoe shopping too over the weekend. I could order stuff online but I wouldn't be sure how they'd fit, etc. So we went to Stride Rite and got two new pairs of runners. Thanks for the shoe money g-pa - Stride Rite ain't cheap. The lady there was super helpful and measured Lily's feet for us and helped us get the right size. So it was a good trip. She somehow got Lily's measurements without the ear piercing screams that I got.

Also, file this under "Lily Cracks Me Up". She pushed her stroller over to the coffee table so she could sit and enjoy her snacks. I really enjoy watching how she enjoys her life. You know? She does things I would never have thought of. And, I am in love with very vanilla soy milk today. I could seriously drink the whole carton RIGHT NOW. I'm not sure - should I mention that I'm pregnant? I'm sure my posts will be peppered with cravings and avoidances (what?) so it will be obvious in time, anyway. This time around I've been very nauseous at night, kind of weird. No, I haven't puked yet, but it was a close thing this morning. Let's just say I went into the bathroom after Pedro used it......

Apple picking....

Yes, due to my creative title, you no doubt realize that we went apple picking. :) It was a beautiful day and I think everyone had a good time. It was a zoo at the apple orchard/mountain thing, but they seemed to be pretty organized so it went well. Grandpa got 16 pounds of apples. I'm not sure what he's going to do with all of them. :) We got some apple donuts and an apple pie, but after the buffet lunch we had, I'm not sure I want any (at least for a while). The buffet was at Michie Tavern and everything was delicious, as per usual. :) (except for my first piece of chicken - slackers!)

I wasn't sure that Lily was going to be into apple picking but she became our secret weapon. Pedro's tall and so with Lily on his shoulder (or sometimes he just boosted her up over his head) we got all the good apples nobody else could reach! ha ha shorties! She also came in handy for the short droopy trees. She took directions from daddy and got all the good apples that no one wanted to crawl in and get. So it was a pretty fun (fattening) day. Oh yeah and I ate two apples and didn't pay for them! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Of course, there were a lot of apple cores on the ground so I know that I wasn't the only person.

I'm trying to think of what else is new. Lily and I have been skipping Musikgarten. It just seems like work and that sucks. You know? It should be a fun class to attend. I shouldn't be feeling dread knowing that I'm going to be running around after Lily and disrupting the class. Sigh. Maybe in the spring we'll try and get Lily in a gymnastics class. She's always climbing and contorting herself. Granted, does she really need to learn how to vault onto the kitchen counters????

Anyway, you all knew it was just a matter of time...

busted

I know the picture is a little fuzzy but I think you can see what's going on. Lily hanging from the stove like a spider monkey. She dragged the diningroom chair over and that's how I caught her. At least, I had the presence of mind to take a picture. I thought that kind of stuff was a ways off. I didn't know an almost two year old could figure that kind of stuff out. Sigh.

I sent that picture to Pedro yesterday. Unfortunately, he didn't bide the warning and she did the same thing to him last night. I tried to keep a straight face as he told me about how she resalted the chicken and then fed it and cheesybread, to the cats. You just can't leave her alone anymore. Unless she's in a straight jacket and with her, even then, it's a gamble. :)

Monday, October 6, 2008

Oh yeah

Lily has started dragging a chair around the kitchen so she can get into previously out of reach areas. I think she's on target skill-wise, but it doesn't make my life any easier!

Also, I wanted to mention that when we went out to eat Saturday, Lily behaved herself perfectly. I don't think we had to correct her behavior once. Then she puked but, still. :) I did praise her behavior pre-puke. She ate what was on her plate, she drank her milk without help. It was really really cool and hopefully a precursor of what's to come. :)

Then of course, we slept in until 10 this morning. I think she did it for me. :)

Queen of Caulk

Yes, I've been working on the house again. I just want to get a few things finished, you know? So hopefully I can paint the hall bathroom one more time, and then I'm done. Done! Then we have to pull apart the other bathroom. SIGH. But hopefully, due to experience, the other one will come together faster. It won't take 8 years. :P

Let's see. I know a lot of stuff has been happening. I just can't think of it all. Lily is addicted to this toy. She wakes up and plays with it in the middle of the night. She did it last night. argh It's a Dora the Explorer mini doodle pad. She LOVES it. It's almost unhealthy.

This is how Lily fell asleep one day. Initially, she was watching tv. I need to give the kid more naps or something but you can't force a toddler t0 sleep. Trust me. I've tried!

I'm so proud.
